Q. What is Data Entry?

A.  To enter (to input) data from one format to another is known as Data Entry.

Q. What different types of data inputs are found?

A.  Hard copy, soft copy or electronic copy, hand written or printed form of input data,
     it can be numeric, alphabetic and alpha numeric.

Q. Why Data Entry is required?

A.  It is easy to store, retrieve and use.

Q. What are the different types of Data Entry?

A.  Offline Data Entry and Online Data Entry.

Q. What is Offline Data Entry?

A.  Offline Data Entry is a form of manual keying from one format to another
     Example: tiff / PDF to word / excel word to excel, etc.

Q. How do you quality check the completed data?

A.  We can check it by two ways, manual verification and rectification of entered data,
     and through electronic comparison.

Q. How many types of keying you do for a data?

A.  We do single keying as well as double keying of data as per the requirement.

Q. What are the different types of Data Entry?

A.  Single Keying is done by one person and it is verified by the QC person to ensure
     that the data is error free and will rectify the data as per the given guidelines. In
     Double Keying method two different data entry operators will work on the same
     file (input data), and then the output generated by them will be compared
     electronically through a software or utility for detecting out the errors, and then
     QC person will verify those flags and will make the data error free. Double Keying
     method gives us 100% accuracy in printed matter.

Q. What different types of Software do you use?

A.  MS Office, various image viewers such as tiff, PDF, fax viewer etc. We even use the
     customized software or tailor made software as per Client's requirement.

Q. What is the cost for Offline Data Entry?

A.  It ranges between US$ 4 to US$ 6 per hour.

Q. Do you have knowledge of US first and Last Names?

A.  Yes we do have a name directory of 500K US First Names and 200K US Last Names
     which we use as a quality checking tool in the projects related to Names entry.

Q. Do you have the knowledge of US postal addresses?

A.  Yes we do have a software utility that does online verification of the US postal
     addresses and corrects them as per the standard format wherever required.

Q. Do you have knowledge of various abbreviations that are used in US?

A.  Yes we have a list of abbreviations usually used in the street name and state.

Q. What are the skills required for Offline Data Entry?

A.  Good typing speed, MS Office, knowledge of English and the usage of customized
     tailor made software.

Q. What are the different modes to receive data?

A.  We receive data from clients as Web links, Hard Copy, CD through Courier, by Email,
     or through FTP.

Q. What is NE?

A.  NE is a software that we use to check double entry done by two different operators.
     For example, suppose A, and B are two different operators. A is the one who does
     the entry from the image and B types the same image. It will generate two different
     files (.txt), which we can check with the help of NE. NE will show the mistakes made
     by A or B by comparing both files electronically, and then the errors can be rectified
     immediately.

Q. What type of projects have you done in past for Offline Data Entry?

A.  Legal ads, preparation of mailing list from books, catalogs entry, tax deeds entry,
     cards entry, survey list entry, rewards card entry, sponsor card entry, university data
     entry, etc.

Q. What is Online Data Entry?

A.  Data Entry in which internet is significantly used, such as direct submission of the
     completed data into Client's server, web application, remote desktop, VPN, etc.

Q. What is the difference between Offline and Online Data Entry?

A.  If Offline Data Entry there is no use of internet connectivity except receiving and
     sending (download and uploading) of the data, whereas in Online Data Entry the use
     of internet is significant which is used for gathering the data from the web,
     submission of data on web, VPN connection, remote desktop application, etc.

Q. How is QC done on this data?

A.  It is done through online data verification and validation.
